In 1962, the USSR launched the first experiment in world history with a group flight of two spacecraft — Vostok-3 and Vostok-4. The Vostok-3 manned spacecraft was launched on August 11, 1962, and Vostok-4 was launched into orbit on August 12. The launches of the ships were carried out from Baikonur, from one launch table. The launch of two rocket and space complexes from one launch pad within two days required a clear and coordinated work of all the services of the cosmodrome. Due to the high accuracy in putting both ships into orbit, the parameters of their orbits almost coincided. The cosmonauts conducted medical-biological and scientific-technical experiments. In this flight, for the first time in world practice, the cosmonaut unbuckled from the ejection seat and hovered in the cockpit in zero gravity without a spacesuit. Vostok-3 made 64 orbits around the Earth and set a record for the duration of the flight — three days, 22 hours, 22 minutes. Vostok-4 made 48 turns and stayed in space for two days, 22 hours and 44 minutes. Both ships landed on August 15 in the Karaganda region.
