The obverse of the coin features a stylized composition: against the background of baroque plant elements - a staff with a handwritten score, above which are six-winged seraphim symbolizing the greatness of the composer's sacred music, striving for the Divine; below on a mirrored background: the inscription UKRAINA, under which - the small State Emblem of Ukraine; on both sides of the coat of arms: the denomination of the coin - 2, the graphic symbol of the hryvnia (left), the year of minting of the coin 20/21 (right), the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (bottom right on a mirrored background).

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of D. Bortnyansky against a mirrored background, to the left of which, on a matte background, there are inscriptions: 1751 / DMITRY / Bortnyansky / 1825 (vertically).

Dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the birth of the famous Ukrainian composer, choral conductor, music teacher, reformer of sacred music, one of the founders of the classical musical tradition - Dmitry Stepanovich Bortnyansky. Dmitry Bortnyansky is the author of operas, choral, symphonic, chamber-instrumental works, which reflect the motives of the Ukrainian folk song. His church-vocal style is the pinnacle of the art of that time, and his work influenced the development of Ukrainian music for the following centuries.
