On the obverse of the coin are placed: the small State Emblem of Ukraine, to the right of which are the vertical inscriptions: UKRAINE and the year of coin minting 2019; against a mirror background, a composition symbolizing the struggle for the liberation of the Motherland - stylized images: of an airplane (above), outlines of warrior defenders, small arms, a tank; below on a background of hills denomination - 5 UAH; logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (left on a mirror background).

On the reverse side of the coin are placed: on the right - stylized red petals of the poppy of memory (based on the symbol of the memory of the victims of war by S. Mіshakіn), in the center of which there are inscriptions 1944 - / 2019; on the left on a relief background is a profile of a man (mirror-like), who is holding a child with a laurel branch in his arms.
