The obverse of the coin contains: at the top - the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the inscriptions: UKRAINE / NATIONAL BANK; denomination 1 (in the center), the designation of the metal, its fineness, the mass of the coin in purity Au 999.9 / 15.55 (to the left of the denomination), the CHAIRMAN and the signature of V.S.Stelmakh, who headed the National Bank of Ukraine in 2010 (to the right from the face value), HRYVNIA (under the face value in a semicircle) below against the background of a stylized ornament in the form of a horseshoe - the year of minting 2010.
The reverse of the coin features an image of Prince Vladimir the Great, who holds a cross in his right hand, and a model of the Tithe Church in his left hand, and the inscription VLADIMIR THE GREAT (in a semicircle at the top).
